yume musubi koi musubi

Yume Musubi, Koi Musubi is the newest manga series by the popular Sakuragi Yaya (Nee, Sensei?, Soba ni Oitene, Calorie), which started its run in the Asuka Ciel magazine in January 2008. It's the story of Ao, a high school student who, despite his cute appearance, is deeply attracted to Kousaka Ryoumei, a Shinto priest working in a shrine. Ao, who is really cute, sweet, and clumsy, treasures a memory of when he was a child, praying at said shrine, and Ryoumei comforting him. However, his imagination tends to continue the story... Ao gets lost in his fantasies very easily, to the point of almost being hit by a car in the middle of the road, or even not realizing when a guy is declaring his love for him, and he often ends up nosebleeding or having wet dreams. Ryoumei is somewhat cold and serious, and is clearly reluctant at first (being a declared heterosexual and all), but, after going through many hilarious events, he may start feeling attracted to Ao as well...?

The series is still ongoing, with its first volume released in October 2008. The plot called the attention of many fans, since the setting and the main pairing aren't the standards of the author - the provocative, super sweet, big-eyed "uke" Ao and his relationship with Ryoumei aren't certainly what we are used to see in Sakuragi-sensei's works; but it's still a great series which is worth following, a good proof that this awesome mangaka can try very different situations in her stories and still charm the readers.
